Meet the General Manager

Q: Tell me about yourself.
A: My career in the hospitality business started on a whim, June 14, 1989. I had just graduated from college with an AS in Accounting and Business Administration. On my way home I decided to stop by a nearby hotel and fill out an application. Two weeks later I got the job as a Front Desk Agent. I soon knew that this is something I liked and worked diligently to be the best at it. This began my life long career in the hotel industry. Fast forward to 18 years later, in February 2007 I came on board as General Manager at Hotel Molokai. This is an opportunity, a challenge and an adventure. Motivation for me is not money though it plays a part but happiness is the key. It’s been almost five years and I still love it. Like someone said to me before “You will never work another day in your life if you are in love with what you do” and that I am.
Q: How long have you been in the hospitality industry?
A: 22 years
Q: What do you like about Hotel Moloka'i?
A: The challenges it present day after day, the authentic atmosphere and the fact that we are located right on the south pacific ocean.
Q: What are your favorite things about Moloka'i?
A: The history of the island, cultural, hiking, ocean activities and the people.
Q: What are your hobbies outside of managing Hotel Moloka'i?
A: Hanging out with friends, going to the beach, hiking and golfing (but I am not good at it).
Q: What is a popular event/activity guests should not miss out on?
A: The Aloha Friday Celebration. Every Friday from 4pm-6pm and continuing with a local band from 6pm-10:30pm.
Q: Anything you would like guests to know?
A: Come with an open mind and everything will exceed your expectations. This island is the last 'real authentic Hawaiian islands' going back 50 or so years.
Mahalo, a hui hou malama pono!
